Designed by Kaare Klint for the Faaborg Museum, which opened in 1915, it was one of the first pieces of Danish Carl Hansen & Søn – Faaborg chair KK96620. In 1914, Klint designed his first piece of furniture, the Faaborg Chair, for Carl Petersen's Faaborg Museum in 1914. He went on to create furniture and fittings for a number of other museums. From 1921 to 1926 he was responsible for the conversion of Frederiks Hospital into the Danish Museum of Art & Design together with Thorkild Henningsen and Ivar Bentsen .

Kaare Klint was a Danish architect and furniture designer remembered as the father of Modern Danish furniture design. His Safari Chair, Faaborg Chair, and numerous other pieces are recognized for their harmony between materials, form, clean line, and traditional craftsmanship. Faaborg Museum is something quite special. Built to house works by the Funen Painters – and a complete work of art in itself comprising painting, sculpture, architecture and furniture design.
