Granitoid plutons are common throughout the late Proterozoic basement complex of north-east Sudan, frequently accounting for 60% of the outcrop. Geological, petrological and isotopic studies indicate that two distinct types of granitic plutonism can be recognized. An older diorite to granodiorite assemblage was emplaced between c. 815 and 724 Ma and a younger predominantly alkali feldspar • A-type granitoids • M-type granitoids S-Type Granites • Occur in regional metamorphic terranes • Partial melting of metasediments • High Al but contain no hornblende • Biotite, muscovite, cordierite, & garnet • High Rb in source rocks • Initial Sr ratios > 0.710 I-Type Granites • Subduction zone continental margin • High Define granitoids. granitoids synonyms, granitoids pronunciation, granitoids translation, English dictionary definition of granitoids.
These granitoids were generally emplaced shortly after an orogenic period and may have originated by melting of mantle material with crustal interaction or solely by the melting of crustal material. The North Nyasa and Chilwa alkaline provinces of Malawi and the White Mountain igneous province of the northeastern US are classic examples of A 1 -type magmatic provinces.

Granitoids of northern Pakistan. Spasmodic magmatism is documented in northern Pakistan from possibly as early as Archean to as late as the Quaternary (Table 1). All types of igneous rocks are present with granitoids being the most dominant. The latter can be divided into seven age groups: Early Proterozoic (ca. >2175 Ma, Kishar, NPHM)
Granitoids and lavas of Middle Cretaceous (125 to 100 Ma) and Early Tertiary (65 to 35 Ma) age are geochemically primitive types that display only limited degrees of mantle enrichment.
